Bleach: Sado Yasutora

bleach cosplay - sado yasutoraOne of Ichigo’s closest friends, Sado Yasutora is Japanese-Mexican who towers over most of his classmates, making him seem intimidating and fierce. His true nature, however, is that of a gentle giant, refusing to fight unless it is for the sake of another. His powers are a mystery even to him, with his right arm having defensive abilities, and later his left arm developing offensive abilities useful against hollows.

This is just way cool. It looks like Chad jumped straight out of the anime. I love the use of leather-like material for his armored arm. Great job on this!

Ugh =p

Yeah well I have been extremely busy of late- mainly since Armageddon was on Sunday. On that note, I HAVE done work. Unbelievably. I've redone the entire airport scene to include Leon, and I redid the entire battle circle too. I have yet to play it through, though, must find labrats.
I've started work on Exhibition Tower but none of the custom graphics are done, I'm using Kieara Phoenix's modern graphics for the first floor and exterior at the moment. I'll add the swords statue onto it, but I'll make my own tileset for the Final Fantasy floor.
I did start going over Kumo's sprite cause he sucks, but I want to finish the game first, so new versions of the battlers will probably be only in the Insane edition.
I've added an intro to bring people up to speed on what's going on before the National Cosplay Week, including Omniax(which is a combination of Umbrella and Shin-Ra[PURE EVEL!]), Forest and Landslide. Kumo is of course mentioned in this.
I've also started spriting Elvoret. His base frame is 300x300 pixels! I have barely the lineart done so far!
I'm basing it off this particular Final Fantasy boss:
Yes he is a scary mofo. He's going to be difficult to sprite, so I won't be doing too many frames for him. I'll probably end up leaving out Struck, even. I just don't have the patience to do too much for him.
BUT, on that note, any boss is better than Randgris!!

As a final note, I will leave my dear readers with something super-special awesome: the Cosplay Crisis intro!

In the year 2010, a world not so different from our own has developed a system aside from the government in the form of factions spanning across the globe. The largest of these is the electrical and pharmaceutical company Omniax, considered by many as the greatest evil the world has ever faced. Despite being a ‘company’ they have their own entire mass of soldiers, willing to give their lives for the company. The governments of many countries fear an uprising of the company into power, but in truth the governments’ power is false
under the power of Omniax.
The greatest opposers are a group derived from the environmental movement Greenpeace, now known as ‘Landslide’. Their goal is to stop Omniax’s method of producing electricity and their potentially dangerous virology experiments. However, they have their own haters, given that the reason for them branching away from Greenpeace is their tendency to resort to extreme violence. They have separate groups around the globe, consisting of close to a half
million members, the largest one being in the mega-city of Acaridae, where they are lead by a young woman named Miriam Joumaeshin and a hot-headed man named Warren.
In the middle of the two conflicting sides is a mercenary organization called Forest, training children who seem to have no goal in life to fight for the right price. However, they do have morals, and seem to have an ultimate goal lying underneath their seemingly simple exterior. This ‘ultimate goal’ is not even understood by their ‘Canopy’, their Commander, a 19-year-old named Levi Raionomoi. Despite being a commander, he still actively participates in missions.
The organization also provides work for soldiers of fortune, hiring them in to partner up with particular members. While Levi was still a Sapling, he was partnered up with a drifter mercenary named Kumo Atsureki, who works to keep food on the table for himself and his brother…but he, like everyone else, seems to have a motive aside from this. He has also recently been hired by Landslide to help destroy electrical reactors around Acaridae.
These three individuals- Miri, Levi and Kumo-, are deeply interconnected, as they have been friends since childhood. As a brief respite from the deep world that they are embroiled in, they embark on a holiday to Japan to participate in the National Cosplay Week, an event attracting thousands of people to Tokyo to dress as their favourite characters.
The three may believe this is a holiday, but soon the events of the past and their imminent futures are going to come crashing down on them.
The clouds are brewing. The squalls are growing in intensity.
The Crisis is about to begin.

Yay word play =D

Play Magazine's: Girls of Anime, Volume 1

Girls of Anime, Volume 1 by Players Magazine. I decided to pick this up on a whim as the artwork inside was pretty cool. It had both Eureka and Anemone with their Mecha on the cover, so where could I go wrong.

It has a nice collection of the lovely ladies from various Anime inside with a brief intro for them. At the top of the page it also tells you the name of the Anime, the character being illustrated and the Distribution company. If it is done by a particular artist, you will usually see their name at the bottom somewhere. I am actually using this to possibly check out the anime for some of the girls. I am actually watching Vandread because of this.

What I also found odd was that they included Intron Depot Blades artwork and Shi from Dark Horse Comics. Though both have some great artwork, but I think they should of kept with the theme of "Girls of Anime".

I did notice a "couple" mistakes in this publication however. On the first double page layout of Rosette Christopher from Chrono Crusade, they listed the Anime title at the top as "Burst Angel". The page showing Ryumou is missing the information all together on the top (they do have her listed on the next page with Hakafu at least). Melody of Oblivion is missing ALL the character names (only has title and distributor). Najica Blitz Tactics has the Title and character name in reversed. Someone needs to give the Proof Reader(s) a smack on the back of the head for these really stupid misses / mistakes.

For a price of $9.95 + tax, it is a fair buy. I do look forward to the second volume (hopefully they take their time proof reading before publication).

Here are some scans of the cover and interior:

Mirror’s Edge: Faith Connors

mirror's edge cosplay - faith connors by miss fawn of deviant artA 24-year-old Eurasian girl who works as a “Runner” for a living, Faith Connors acts as a messenger for the revolutionary groups who avoid using telephone and email to contact each other. She opposes the totalitarian government regime the same way her parents did, and working as a Runner allowed her to work on her ideals.

Meet Miss Fawn, Deviant Artist, Fashion Designer, and Model. This is a rather impressive cosplay of Faith, and it gives you a pretty good idea as to how intense the game play can be. At least, I think so anyway. Thank you for sharing this!

Blog Review: COLLECT'em ALL

Here we have another cool Mecha collector to the max. Great insight to Macross and Gundam arenas. If you have to ask, just check out his collection pictures. Nice little shrine he has at home - I mean, just look at the number of Macross figures he has. I must say a very understanding wife as well.

What I like about this site (besides the normal Mecha) is the odd ball stuff he posts that I would never have seen here in the US. If you need to see it for yourself, check out these blogs:

If you are a fan of anything Gundam or Macross, this is another blog you have to add to your list for damn sure. He also reviews conventions in his town as well as older items that are not in production anymore. He also does reviews on Games which is a pretty cool as well.

So take a moment and check out COLLECT'em ALL !

Anime Review: Fairy Tail

I will have to start this off by saying I am very prejudice about this Anime. I have only watched one episode and am liking it - A LOT!

I have been reading the Manga and was stoked that they turned this into an Anime. If you have seen Rave Master, you will notice that this was done by the same person - Hiro Mashima. You will even see a popular character from Rave Master make an appearance in Fairy Tails.

Can you name this Character that is in Rave Master and in Fairy Tails?
HINT: Watch the intro!

We have a world of magic and groups of wizards that are in Guilds. These Guilds can vary immensely by the type of magic and wizards that in compass each one. The Fairy Tail Guild is made of what I would have to call - um - unique individuals. Pretty much where ever the guild members go, destruction is sure to follow.

We are introduced in the first episode to 3 main characters:

Lucy Heartfilia - she uses Celestial Keys. These keys unlock other dimensions where these spirits live. Not always to the best of her ability however.

Happy - Blue talking cat that uses magic and can fly - for short periods

Natsu Dragneel (aka "Salamander") - can use ancient fire magic taught to him by a dragon named Igneel

Comments:
The intro a bit wordy as they explain the Kingdom of Fiore and the use of magic. After this intro, the music gets hopping and you get to see the vast majority of the characters. I was a little take back by Lucy's appearance with the blond hair. I know she is blond, but something was a bit off to me - I can't explain it.

Needless to say the first episode has mostly to do with the introduction of some of the main characters. We get to see how Lucy stumbles into Natsu and Happy.  We see what type of wizards are running about. Especially what magic both Lucy and Natsu can control (or in some instances, not control). Lucy wants so much to be part of the Fairy Tail Guild that she ends up in more trouble than not and with the wrong Wizard to boot. SO here comes Natsu and Happy to the rescue and then the total demise of the "Fake" Wizard.

Like all first episodes, we get a lot of action and interaction between the characters. I am looking forward to seeing more soon.

BTW: It is still airing in Japan so the only places to catch it are on some sites that are dubbing it for us poor people outside Japan.

Overall Rating: B

Lucy

Natsu and Happy

WOW - can Natsu eat and eat and eat

Kuroshitsuji: Ciel Phantomhive 04

kuroshitsuji cosplay - ciel phantomhive 04The young Earl of the Phantomhive household, Ciel runs the Funtom Company which manufactures toys and sweets, and later, a food branch as Sebastian obtained the Royal Warrant. He enjoys drinking tea and sweet desserts, and is even known to distinguish different types of tea. Ciel also has asthma, the same with his mother, and is a proficient hunter, presumably like his father.

Beautiful cosplay! I always loved to see Ciel smiling rather than expressionless. Good job on the details!
